Yamaha SR400

Michael Cook is a Brisbane based professional artist who specialises in photomedia. Michael contacted Butler’s Customs after purchasing a 2017 Yamaha SR400 with the idea of turning it into something very simple, minimalistic, with clean lines throughout and a timeless colour to match.

After a long conversation and planning colours, styles, specific parts, materials etc, a game plan was created.

The bike was then shipped 10 hours to our shop from Brisbane and we began to disassemble. With a design in my head and collaborating alongside Michael and his vision, the design and build process was underway.

The bike features a hand made pie cut and rolled stainless exhaust with built in baffles.

The fuel tank cap was removed and a flush mount cap was welded in it’s place and a custom seat pan and seat were made.

The bike was  rewired and a motogadget speedo was recessed into the custom triple tree and clip on bars were fit.

The engine was removed and the frame powder coated in satin black. The engine covers were ceramic coated black and all levers on the motor along with brackets etc were powder coated in an army green to contrast the new Renault grey paint on the tank.

Shinko tyres were fitted front and rear.

Once complete, the bike was freighted back to Michael in Brisbane, and has been turning heads everywhere it goes.

Michael was so pleased with the build he has already arranged to start working alongside us for a one of a kind, custom series 2 land rover that we expect to complete in 2020.
