Retro T3 Kombi

The Custom Built T3 transporter started out as a completely stock T3 transporter shell with no interior and a badly running engine.

First things first we stripped the whole car with the intentions to do a simple paint job to get it ready for registration so it could be sold. Like always we got a little carried away.

After deciding on a bright retro orange with an off white roof the car screamed for so much more. So we decided to replace the stock 14 inch wheels with a set of Smoothie style 17×8 steel wheels with chrome hub caps and trim rings, new tyres to match and we colour coated the rims to match the exterior roof off white.

The next step was the interior. Fitting it out with a brand new off white interior kit from the US, new timber floors were fitted to match, seat covers were made also to match and a rock and roll bed fitted in the back for those nights at the drive in or a trip away with the family camping.

The next step was to deal with the badly running engine. Out with the old and in with a freshly rebuilt engine, starting with a complete new fuel system including fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, filters, new injectors, fuel pressure regulator and so much more. New heads and all new gaskets throughout. A new water pump, fan belts and so much more were fitted to make the van now drive like a new T3.

The steering rubbers were all replaced along with the gear box serviced and all brakes replaced for new. The bumpers on the car were painted to match the roof but left off as we liked the look of no bumpers better. This is a mixed opinion but we chose what we felt looked best.

The car now has a full 12 months rego and is ready for its new home. The car is currently for sale you can hit up Butler’s Customs via email, Facebook or Instagram.
